Corporate Purpose in an Age of Crises

  • Harvard Business Review (map)

Corporate purpose has never been more important. Purpose can unify organizations, especially during a crisis, and gives employees a reason to come to work beyond earning a paycheck. And purpose-driven companies tend to significantly outperform their competition on all key financial metrics.

To learn more about the role of corporate purpose during this time of multiple crises, Harvard Business Review Analytic Services (HBR-AS) surveyed 168 executives. Most (84%) said their organization makes purpose an integral part of its corporate strategy.

On January 28, in a live HBR-AS webinar, Managing Director Alex Clemente will review findings from this survey and will lead a discussion about corporate purpose with Jane Elliott, Chief Communications & Human Resources Officer at Deluxe, and Orvin Kimbrough, Chairman & CEO, Midwest BankCentre. They will share their perspectives on the survey results, recount their own experiences with purpose and corporate philanthropy, and discuss:

  • Why corporate purpose is essential, especially during a crisis

  • The benefits for corporations of prioritizing purpose

  • How organizations enable purpose and philanthropy through technology and other means

  • Why companies need to align purpose with racial justice, and how they can do it

Succeeding during crises goes beyond a company’s strategy, culture, products, and technology. Join Jane Elliott, Orvin Kimbrough, and Alex Clemente on January 28 as they discuss why a clear sense of purpose is at the heart of sustained employee engagement and company success.
