Transformation: Restoring Resilience

The speed with which the coronavirus pandemic crippled the global economy, buckled healthcare systems, and crushed national pandemic response plans has created a resilience crisis that is engulfing our public institutions. From education to healthcare to basic benefits and services, communities are being forced to reimagine how they meet the needs of citizens and stakeholders. The crisis presents an opportunity to not only rebuild, but to emerge better off with a heightened ability to address many other challenges on our long national horizon.

In the fifth edition of Transformation, the New America’s Digital Impact and Governance Initiative (DIGI) will convene top leaders from civil society, academia, and the private sector to discuss reforms and partnerships that can foster resilience in the face of future crises. We’ll be launching a new report on fostering resilience co-written by former DIGI Senior Fellow Dante Disparte and DIGI Director Tomicah Tillemann. We’ll also convene senior representatives from MIT, the World Bank, and EY. Together with New America, these organizations are the founding members of the Prosperity Collaborative, a coalition developing open source technologies to help governments solve public finance challenges.
